Cricket is one of the major sports at the Truro school which played by the girls and boys mainly during the summer term. During the autumn and spring terms number of indoor competition for girls and boys are take place. There is also opportunity to play during the summer term. The training of cricket is takes place on Monday, Tuesday after the school with matches or training on Saturdays and Wednesdays. We run girls teams at under 13 and under 15 while we also run teams from under 12 to 1st XI. We also had great success in the county Knock out cup competition. After the October half term, we also starts winter training program which continues till the summer term.

Truro school indoor cricket has flourished with the opening of multi pound “Sir Ben Ainslie Centre” in 2013. There are games can take place simultaneously in the double sports hall. This facility has opened during Easter break at Truro school. We also have enough large pavilion, all pitches are natural grass, three well maintained cricket grounds. Cricket wicket also protected during the off-season.

Our coaching staff is equipped with the 3 fielding and bowling machines which are used throughout the summer term for coaching program. We also have a team of talented coaches including one lady who have many years of cricket coaching knowledge and experience. We also have two coaches for junior teams. Last year our girls team played exceptionally well throughout the term, currently girl cricket having a boom.

Under 13 and 15 girls teams are involved in the national indoor competition during the autumn and spring term.

Robert Malcolm Hamilton Bell

Robert Malcolm Hamilton Bell was born in 26 February 1969. He is one of the famous former English cricket players who is right handed batsman and right handed medium pacer. In Hugh town isles of silly, Cornwall he was born. In 1990 bell made his debut against Wiltshire in county cricket for Cornwall. He also made his first class debut in the same season against GLAMORGAN.

Laura Harper

Laura Harper was born in 11 April 1986. She is an American basketball former player and coach who currently serving her services as an assistant basketball woman’s coach at High Point University. In Wyncote she also played for Cheltenham high school where she scored 9 points. She was the part of 2006 national championship team and become the most outstanding player of the NCAA tournament. In 2008 Harper was selected in the first round of WNBA and overall tenth. Harper played 34 games as a rookie and made one start. At the end of WNBA season she has signed with Turkish women’s basketball league.

Charles Shrek

Charles Shrek was born at Truro Cornwall in 6 January 1978 who is a right-arm fast medium bowler and right handed batsman. He was educated from Truro school and POLWHELE house school. He also played first class cricket in New Zealand. From 2003 to 2001 he also played for Nottinghamshire. He rediscovered his niche as an effective wicket taker and talented batsman. He took 7 wickets including 35 runs against Derbyshire in 2007.

Michael Kenneth Munday

Michael Kenneth Munday was born in 22 October 1984. He is an English cricket player who played until 2010. He is a lower order right-handed batsman and leg break bowler. From 2003 to 2006 he played for Oxford University while he made his first class debut against Middlesex. He also played 2 under 19 test matches against Bangladesh in 2004 under the captaincy of Alastair cook.

Jack Bradshaw Butler

Jack Bradshaw Butler was born in 12 November 1927 and died on 11 may 2013. He was an American footballer who was elected into Pro football hall of fame in 2012. From 1956 to 1959 he was named to four straight Pro Bowls. He had 52 interceptions during his 865 yards and career. He was also named as 22 greatest Pittsburgh Steelers of all time in October 2008. In 2012 he was also named for the Pro football hall of fame.

James Ross Turpin

James Ross Turpin was born at Cornwall England in 18 March 1997. He is a right arm medium bowler and right handed batsman. He made his first class debut against Hampshire for Cardiff MCCU. He completed his education from Truro school, king’s college and Taunton.
